Personal Strategic Planning Seminar
The Highlands Personal Strategic Planning Seminar is conducted by Highlands Affiliates
and is designed to help people who have completed the Highlands Ability Battery and
feedback to integrate their abilities with other personal vision factors in order to
make personal and career decisions. In the process, the participant will create a
personal vision that is based on objective and subjective information that is relevant
and timely. This personal vision can be used to enhance an existing career, make
subtle or major career changes, explore educational and future career opportunities,
and consider personal and interpersonal life events such as retirement.
The program uses a variety of exercises to take participants through the process
of understanding and articulating their strengths, integrating their abilities
with other critical factors, and gaining practical experience in determining
how to make life and career decisions. The Personal Strategic Planning Seminar
is usually conducted as series of weekly 3-hour group participation sessions
over ten weeks. Given in groups of 5-8 participants, the program draws on the
interaction of the participants to enhance the learning experience of each
individual. Affiliates may also offer the program in modified formats that
meet the needs of their clients.
Modifications to the program may include:
Intensified programs that meet over a weekend or in a retreat format
Programs that highlight some of the program elements and meet in fewer sessions
Individualized programs that use specific exercises to enable the Affiliate to focus on specific issues.
Regardless of the format of the program, the Personal Strategic Planning Seminar is an
excellent program for individuals who wish to expand the self-knowledge derived from
the Ability Battery and put what they have learned to practical application.
It helps participants to articulate critical elements of their strengths and needs,
explore options within their lives and careers, and create an action plan for achieving
a future that will be rewarding and satisfying.
